The Dawlish & Teignmouth Photographic Club had the honour of spending an evening listening to long standing club member Ken Holland FRPS talk about the Royal Photographic Distinctions and his all time favourite photographer Elliot Erwitt.
Ken is a member of the Royal Photographic Society assessment team, and is lucky enough to have access to some successful licentiate panels. He showed these panels, talking through the criteria used for RPS assessments, and outlined the whole award application process.
In the second half of the evening Ken introduced the club to the exquisitely unique and subtly humorous photography of Elliott Erwitt, beginning with his quote: "Photography is about finding something interesting in an ordinary place". Ken then showed his own "ordinary" (but also inimitable) places and people. Club members debated and deliberated as much of the photography shown was as witty as Erwitts.
A very enjoyable and educational evening all round.
